We’ve Slightly Adjusted Our Facilities Ratings Towards Practicality, Resulting In a Few Score Changes.

The below changes come as part of a series of Mountain Score recalibrations implemented today. To see the full list of adjustments, clickhere.
Our facilities category weights each resort by how easy it is to stop in for a break on the mountain. However, we’ve historically weighted some very small facilities with limited space and inconsistent openings as highly as more practical lodges. With today’s adjustment, we’re aiming to fix this discrepancy.
A few resorts see facilities score changes due to this update. Deer Valley, which offers several easily-accessible small food shacks but fewer high-capacity lodges in select resort areas, dropsfrom a 9 to an 8.Kirkwood, which only offers a small, limited-capacity backside hut outside of the bases, dropsfrom a 5 to a 4.Finally, Alpine Meadows, which offers two facilities outside the base area but maintains very limited seating and operations at the backside Ice Bar, dropsfrom a 6 to a 5.
At the same time, we failed to give one small Vermont resort credit for its base area facilities. While Bromley only has one public lodge at its main base, which can result in a lack of space at peak times, the building has multiple floors and different restaurants, meaning the resort isn’t as disadvantaged facility-wise as we previously suggested. As a result, we’ve increased Bromley’s facilities scorefrom a 3 to a 4.
