Copper Upgrading Timberline Chair to Six-Pack for 2024-25
Updated:
October 11, 2024

Copper’s popular Timberline chair will be upgraded from a 4-place to a 6-pack.
One of Copper’s most popular chairlifts is getting a significant upgrade for the 2024-25 season, according to apress releasefrom the mountain. This Colorado resort is replacing its Timberline Express quad with a six-pack, allowing the resort to “greatly increase” uphill capacity. Work for the upgrade is already underway this summer.
Copper plans to open for the 2023-24 winter season on November 13, 2023. The upcoming season will bring a new mid-mountain lodge and expanded parking in the resort’s Far East lot.
Our Take
In general, Copper tends to handle crowds better than some of its more popular Colorado competitors. But some areas are worse than others, and the Timberline lift—which services some of the resort’s best lappable intermediate terrain, sees multiple high-alpine trails filter into it, and provides the only convenient access from the west side of the mountain to upper resort areas—experiences what are arguably the worst lines at the resort. A six-pack upgrade, which has the potential to increase capacity by up to 50%, could really help alleviate lines here.
Ultimately, we’re looking forward to seeing this upgrade materialize and analyzing how the increased capacity addresses this chokepoint.
