Ratings Adjustment: Colorado High-Alpine Snow Scores

Here at PeakRankings, we aim to provide the most helpful and transparent content we can. That being said, we’re always iterating on our methodology and decided to change the snow scores for two Colorado resorts this week.
We’ve decided to upgrade both Loveland and Telluride’s snow scores from 7 to 8. Both mountains receive substantially lighter snow than all other mountains with the same rating. Both resorts also hold their accumulation well thanks to high elevation. These traits result in clear snow quality advantages we felt weren’t adequately reflected in our existing score criteria.
While most other Colorado resorts already receive an 8 for snow, Telluride’s lower accumulation and Loveland’s heavily exposed footprint make for less consistent conditions at each resort. However, after further consideration, we feel that the markdowns for these demerits are already reflected in each resort’s resiliency score.
With these adjustments, Telluride is now tied with Beaver Creek as thesecond best resortwe’ve reviewed in Colorado. Loveland remainstenthin our Colorado rankings.
