Killington, Snowbird, Copper, and Others Now Penalizing Parking Reservation “No Shows”
Updated:
October 13, 2024

The Alpine parking lot at Copper.
To ensure that those who reserve a parking spot at the resort actually use it, Killington announced a new “Cancel for Karma” parking reservation policy earlier this week. As of December 9, guests who fail to use their parking reservation on any given day may face the loss of future bookings. To avoid consequences, reservers must cancel at least 90 minutes before lifts start spinning by emailing ParkWhiz or through theservice’s app. Those who fail to cancel within that timeframe can still cancel before 9am the day of throughthis link.
After receiving email notification of Killington’s change, we noticed that Powdr’s other resorts—Snowbird,Copper,Eldora, andMt. Bachelor—also included this cancellation policy in their reservation language. We did not receive emails from the other mountains, so we’re unsure exactly when they each implemented these guidelines—although we’d imagine it was around the same time as Killington.
These resorts have implemented a tiered penalization system, with repeat offenders facing the most serious repercussions. First-time offenders will only receive a warning email, while second-time offenders will lose their next parking reservation. Third-time and subsequent offenders will lose all remaining reservations currently booked. No-shows before December 9 will not count towards this policy.
Killington, Snowbird, Copper, Eldora, and Mt. Bachelor normally offer unrestricted access to ticket and passholders, but these resorts implemented parking reservations this year to limit capacity due to COVID-19.
Our Take
This is a smart policy that should prevent select visitors from getting greedy and unnecessarily holding spots that should truly be available. Vail Resorts has employeda similar cancellation policysince the season started, although we haven’t yet heard of anyone losing a reservation due to abuse here. Several high-demand days at Copper, Snowbird, Eldora, and Mt. Bachelor are entirely booked for parking already, so hopefully this policy helps free up some space for those not fortunate enough to secure their desired spots already.
