Killington Developing New Luxury Ski-In/Ski-Out Condos at Bear Mountain
Updated:

A plan of the Base Camp at Bear Mountain sourced from the development’swebsite.
Killington is currently developingits first gated ski-in/ski-out communityat the base of Bear Mountain. Units in the community, known as the Base Camp at Bear Mountain, will all be sold to private owners. Each of the six initial condos will offer direct access to and from the Bear Cub trail, and each will boast two stories, four bedrooms, a home office, and a two-car garage.
The realtor group, which is associated with Killington, is now taking $10,000refundable depositsfor those interested. The group says that prices start at $1,750,000. Initial construction work is planned for Summer 2021.
Our Take
As of today, the planned site for the Base Camp at Bear Mountain looks like a dump. Old, seemingly abandoned Devil’s Fiddle chair components are still rotting away (the lift was decommissionedmore than a decade ago). However, we expect this development to spruce things up significantly. A current Killington downside is that its limited ski-in/ski-out condos are placed at inconvenient or variably opened trails. These would be much more centrally located, addressing that drawback.
Buying in looks atrociously expensive at this point, with condo prices starting well above $1 million. But if owners will be allowed to rent out their homes to vacationers, these condos could immediately become some of Killington’s most desirable on-mountain accommodations. With only six condos on the market, supply looks quite limited for now; however, the development plan provides for additional future units.
