Ikon Adds Schweitzer, Idaho as Pass Partner for 2021-22
Updated:
October 13, 2024
Earlier today, Idaho’s Schweitzer announced itwill join the Ikon Pass starting with the 2021-22 season. Full Ikon Pass holders will have access to 7 days at the resort, while Ikon Base Pass holders will have access to 5 days with holiday blackouts. The resort will also be available on the Ikon Session Pass 4-Day. In addition, Schweitzer has released its new Voyager Pass, which allows purchasers to append an Ikon Base Pass to an unlimited season pass for an additional $200. This announcement comes several weeks afterIkon’s 2021-22 pass suite launch.
Our Take
Ikon’s Schweitzer expansion cements the pass’s presence in the U.S. Northern Rockies. Epic, which only has Sun Valley as a limited partner resort in the region, is now an even less appealing alternative for those looking to book a trip to this region.
Schweitzer—and Idaho in general—haven’t historically been the biggest names for destination ski vacations, but this partnership may very well attract more out-of-region visitors. Schweitzer is just over three hours from Red Mountain, British Columbia, another resort that recently joined the Ikon Pass—assuming the border reopens, Ikon Pass holders may find value in visiting both resorts on one trip. The resort is also about seven hours from other pass-partner mountains in British Columbia, Montana, and Washington.
Those looking to visit Ikon destinations as well as some of Schweitzer’s partner resorts next season may actually want to consider a Voyager Pass, even if they aren’t planning on visiting Schweitzer much next season. After three to four weekday days at Whitewater, Bridger Bowl, Mt. Hood Meadows, Loveland, or Sugar Bowl, the pass will pay itself off versus a regular Ikon Base Pass. We imagine those living in the PNW or Northern Rockies will find the greatest benefit from these reciprocal partner offers.
This pass addition looks promising for both Ikon and Schweitzer, and we look forward to visiting Schweitzer next season to review it. As the partnership brings increased resort traffic, we’ll be consulting with locals to determine any crowd logistics changes.
