Arapahoe Basin Announces Discounted 20/21 Pass Renewals And Deferment Policy

Right on the heels of fellow local mountainSierra-at-Tahoe, Arapahoe Basin announced discounted season pass renewals. Existing passholders will be able to renew their full season passfor just $349; those who aren’t renewing can still pick up a passfor $449.No expiration date for these deals has been announced.
A-Basin also announced a guarantee program called A-Basin Pass Promise. If a person purchases any pass for the 20/21 season and Arapahoe Basin does not open, that pass will be valid for the 21/22 season. Benefits such as partner mountain days may not roll over in the event that this happens.

Our Take
Arapahoe Basinoffers a very competitive experience for advanced and better skiers, and the $350 renewal price for the full pass here is extremely enticing; it’s hard to find a mountain with a cheaper adult unlimited pass. It’s also a plus that A-Basin won’t be charging customers extra to use their pass in the 21/22 season if the situation next winter requires it.
However, A-Basin’s deferment policy is a lot less flexible than those offered by some other pass products, and it doesn’t seem like passholders will be able to proactively put off their pass before the season starts. This may cause hesitation among some people who want the option to defer their pass even if A-Basin opens for at least one day. Such a group might want to consider dropping the extra moneyfor an Ikon Pass product, which offers 5 to 7 days at A-Basin and a pass deferral option between September 10 and December 10. It’s also unclear if these discounted rates will go up, so it may be worth waiting a few months for a better idea of the purchase risk.
